ABOUT
ABOUT
Sarah DeLacy, CAGO, is an organist, conductor, and church musician whose work centers on sacred music, congregational hymnody, and the cultivation of musical life within the Church. Through organ performance, choral direction, hymn festivals, and concert programming, she seeks to reconnect congregations and communities with the depth, beauty, and permanence of the sacred music tradition. As a recitalist, her programming draws from organ literature, hymnody, and sacred music traditions shaped by the liturgical and choral life of the Church.
She currently serves as Director of Music at Messiah Lutheran Church, where she serves as principal musician of the congregation and oversees the church’s musical life in service to Word and Sacrament. Her work at Messiah includes organ performance, choral direction, congregational hymnody, children’s music education, and the continued development of the parish’s sacred music program through concerts, hymn festivals, and community music initiatives.
Since arriving at Messiah in 2023, Sarah has expanded the church’s music ministry through the development of the children’s choir Morgenchor and the adult choir Abendchor, both of which sing regularly in the Divine Service and seasonal concerts. Morgenchor also serves as a public-facing children’s choir within the surrounding community, with an emphasis on sacred choral singing and music education. She is also founder and artistic director of Messiah’s “Faith & Fugue” concert series, now in its third season, which presents organ recitals, sacred choral concerts, hymn festivals, and guest artists throughout the year. The series has brought together organists, instrumentalists, choirs, and community audiences through programs ranging from traditional hymnody and organ literature to larger sacred concert events.
Active in the American Guild of Organists, Sarah regularly performs in seasonal recitals with the Cumberland Valley Chapter and currently serves as Member-at-Large Elect for the Washington, D.C. Chapter. Her broader musical experience includes work throughout South Korea and the United States as conductor, organist, accompanist, vocal coach, and music director for churches, children’s choirs, and community ensembles.
Before moving to the United States, Sarah spent more than a decade serving churches in South Korea, where she regularly supported more than ten services each week in roles including organist, accompanist, choir conductor, and music director. This sustained liturgical work shaped both the breadth of her repertoire and the consistency of her church musicianship. She later served as conductor for the Yangju City Christian Television System (CTS) Children’s Choir and the Gyeonggi Samsung Dream Children’s Choir, while also working as a vocal coach and choral instructor for employee choirs at major Korean companies including Samsung and Hyundai. In Seoul, she also performed as a soprano with the semi-professional Camarata Music Company Chamber Singers.
Sarah is a graduate of Yonsei University’s Church Music program and holds the Colleague certificate (CAGO) from the AGO.
